How can I know beforehand that I'm approved and how high will be the limit on my card&
A usual rule before applying for a credit card is to check your credit report in order to be sure if your eligible for the expected credit card or not. Besides, you mind it that if you want to get a good credit credit card, you should have the required credit score plus no negative items, such as bancruptcy. As for the credit limit, it can be estimated according to your credit score. If you look at terms&conditions of a credit card, you will see this is true with most credit cards: the higher your score is, the higher the credit limit is available. But, however, both the credit limit and the approval do not always meet one's expectations, so do not be absolutely sure you will get what you want ,as everything depends on the bank in the end.

We've a card that we've never had a default in payment-never missed, never late, sometimes pay more than minimum. Company suddenly more than doubled rate to 27.23 % Reason given was because we almost used available amount. Is this legal? Nothing in their terms to warn us of such actions. When I contacted them to question why they ok'd the amount of credit, they told me we had earned it, but added that they hadn't told us to spend it. Sound shady to me. Anything can be done?
The first thing you should do now is to read terms & conditions, including the fine print, with utter attention. Maybe, you didn't see this item. Second, it may so happen that the bank has changed some points in terms&conditions of this card (bank states its right to do that without notifying the customer). If you still can't find anything verifying this abrupt increase in the percentage rate, you are supposed to turn to the court and prosecute the bank for that. but you are recommended to scrutinize all the documents and laws related with this issue, to avoid being denied in your complaint.

Hi, I was just wondering i you could shed some light. What does it mean when somebody defaults on the credit card agreement. Do they cancel their contract with the credit card bank or do they refuse to pay the remaining balance or do they stop using the credit card anymore. What happens if you stop using that credit card? are there any maintainance fees?
Before applying for a credit card, everyone should read terms&conditions, of this credit card, where all the fees and the way this card works are described in detail. It is the way how the bank want s to introduce its credit card offer, what it contains. If terms&conditions imply any maintainance fees - annual fee or anything else, you should pay these fees, even if you do not use this credit card and just hold it. Defaults on credit card agreement can be different, and are determined in the terms& conditions of the bank; if you commit some defaults, you are usually fined by the bank, so your debt increases. Among such delinquencies there can be refusing to pay. If you don't like the way this bank fulfills the terms&conditions, you can cancel the contract - that is close your credit card. But if you just stop using it (if it has no maintainance fees), nothing will happen, and the valid term will expire some day.

i filed bankrapecy it will be 1yr in feb i purchased a car with a payment of 591.00 a month with help of cosigner i have paid on time each month 4 a total of 5 payments. how or does this effect my credit score? also recieved aspen credit card is this good? should i get secured card?i would like to purchase house in nexy year or so i am 24yr old with good income
As you probably have been told, bankruptcy record will stay in your credit history during 7-10 years, depending on the chapter. So, during this period you will be refused for your good credit card applications. Your aim should be to accumulate your credit points, so as when these 7-10 years expire, you will have excellent credit score. It is also very important to pay everything on time and in full, avoid any sort of delinquency. Your payments have a very positive effect on your credit, but it's impossible to say how many points are added, as credit bureaus calculating this, use a special complicated system. As far as this credit card offer you received, can't give any advice, as we do not have such card at our site. A secured credit card is a good way to rebuild your credit, but if you can be approved for bad credit cards, you'd better apply for them. If you want to take as large a credit line as for a house, I think, you will also have to find a cosigner or turn to a credit union, as credit cards will so high a limit are usually for good credit. Good luck!

My credit report shows that I have an open account with Columbus Bank and Trust. I do not remember opening any such account and I do not receive statements. Could you give me a phone number so I can close this? Or tell me how to close it?
Your actions should be quick in your situation, as it may turn out to be a case of identity theft (someone might have opened an account under your name). So you should call Columbus bank and Trust, and make a request if they really have an account in your name. If all the information will coincide with yours, it is identity theft, and you should turn to the police and inform credit bureaus about it. The bank will close the account and credit bureaus will freeze your credit history.

I filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy 8 years ago. My credit score is 741 and I am still unable to get approved for some credit cards. The bankruptcy will not appear on my credit report after September 2010. Is there any way for card issuers to find out about the bankruptcy after it comes off my report?
Your bankruptcy is removed from your credit history, that means it is not significant anymore. Even if the bank knows about your bankruptcy, it can't refuse your credit card application, as it is not stated in your credit history. You have a very good score, but you will make it even better, if you continue applying for bad credit cards and will pay them off accurately. Your aim is to commit no a single delinquency in paying off credit cards, and avoid applying on impulse and for shady credit card offers, so that you will not be eager to cancel those improper credit cards, thus lowering your score.

how fast can i use my card
Before applying for a credit card you are supposed to read terms&conditions, where the bank informs you about the fees and charges and the way your credit card will work. There it is also pointed out how long you will wait for the approval and how you can activate you credit card and when you can receive it by mail. After you make an application, you have to wait for the approval, which is verified by an approval letter from the bank. You can receive your card together with the approval or later. Anyway, you'll have to activate it and know the PIN, to start using the credit card. So, the moment you activate your credit card and get informed you can use the credit card, you are free to use it.

I have a unique situation. I am young and only have limited credit. I have a bank loan and car insurance payments in my own name in my home state. However, I recently moved to another state where I hope to attend college sometime soon. I live with a roommate and neither of us work because we receive money from our parents. What would be the best credit card that I could actually get approved for right now?
Generally, you can apply for a credit card for bad credit, as you have some credit history and you are able to pay. But you can face the following problem: since you are not working, you can't give the bank the information about your regular income. Some credit card companies do not hesitate to give credit cards to unemployed (high charges for bad credit cards cover the risks), others refuse to do it absolutely. If you have already chosen the credit card or at least the bank you want to turn to, call the bank's customer service and ask them if you can be approved having no job. You can indicate the amount your parents send to you annually as an annual income.

i want a credit card but i dont have a checkings or savings account?
If you have some credit already (you had cards or took loans), you do not need any checking or savings account, the bank regarding your credit history instead. So you can choose any credit card according to your credit history. If you have no credit, you can use one of the two ways to build your credit: - apply for a secured credit card (for which you will need to get a savings or checking account) - ask a friend or a relative with good credit to become your co-signer (you will be a co-borrower of a good credit card and accumulate a number of credit points) There are no credit cards for no credit requiring no bank account, as the latter covers the great risk of the bank.
